John Wesley’s Sermon on "The Means of Grace"
Hymn Portion:
Pray without ceasing, pray (your
Captain gives the word)
his summons cheerfully obey and call upon the Lord;
to
God your every want in instant prayer display,
pray, always, pray and never
faint, pray without ceasing pray.
(Charles Wesley, "Soldiers of Christ, Arise," verse 3).
Scripture Affirmation:
The prayer of faith will save
the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins
will be forgiven…. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective (James 5:15-16, NRSV).
